What's a Themed Retreat?
Very occasionally we run a Retreat themed around a particular author or genre. You still get all the loviness of one of our usual Retreats but we add a few additional touches based around our chosen theme. See below for our next one.
Agatha Christie Reading Retreat
Tuesday 18th to Friday 22nd November 2019
"Books are a habit-forming drug." - Agatha Christie 1952
Following the huge popularity of our first Themed Retreat with the very lovely Sophie Hannah as our guest author - we are delighted to announce she has agreed to return. So if you missed out last time here is your chance to join us.
Sophie is an internationally bestselling writer of psychological crime fiction, published in 49 languages. In 2014, with the blessing of Agatha Christie’s family and estate, Sophie published a new Hercule Poirot novel, 'The Monogram Murders', which was a bestseller in more than 15 countries. In September 2016 her second Poirot novel, 'Closed Casket', was published and became an instant Sunday Times top ten bestseller. She is the only author authorised to write new books featuring Hercule Poirot and her third, 'The Mystery of Three Quarters' was claimed to be the best yet when it was published in August 2018. We are really looking forward to hearing her talk about her work with the Christie Estate, and about her reading habits.
Come and join us to really reconnect with the Queen of Crime, bring your favourites, try some of her more obscure titles, or start reading about Agatha and seeing what contemporary work has been inspired by her. We will be offering our usual Reading Prescriptions but these can be Agatha-derived!
We will be adding little mysterious extra touches to our usual Reading Retreat experience, but the focus is - as always - on having space and time to read.
